FTC offers five core products: Internet, Wireless, Phone, Security and TV. It’s always important to mention that customers who package two or more of those products will save $10 per month per service through a program called Connections. So, a customer with all five would save $40 a month.
Now on to the subject of this writing: The fourth of the five products, Security.
FTC Security includes every component a resident could want or need, starting with 24/7 monitoring. Depending on the type of system, the monthly fees vary. (It is also important to note that each system does include a yard sign and window stickers, which also help scare away would-be thieves, as well as alarm certificates for discounts on homeowners insurance).
For instance, a basic wireless system consisting of two door sensors and a motion detector with a battery backup can be installed for free. The only cost is the $29.95 a month for monitoring. Also, the system can be controlled by a panel or wireless remote.
Add to that package two wireless cameras – one can be a video doorbell – again for free, and pay $59.95 per month, which includes access to the cameras.

Remote access to the system, via the app through a computer or smartphone, is also available. That is helpful when users have people entering their homes they don’t want to share their codes with.
These systems will be monitored through the customers’ internet connections. An added precaution is cellular backup, which is available for only $5 monthly. This is important for a home or business if the internet connection is interrupted, either through a disruption in service or if a criminal is trying to gain access by cutting wires.

A couple of other tidbits: For homeowners with security systems, some insurance companies offer discounts of up to 10% on premiums. Also, criminals are less likely to try to break into homes with security systems. One website reported the following; “Statistics show that 83% of burglars often check for home security systems when looking for a property to break into. If they find one, 60% of them will change their mind.”
Taking both of those into account, it’s a safe bet that a reliable security system will more than pay for itself.
